Police constable arrested for killing man in staged accident over property dispute

BAGALKOT: A police constable and his brother have been arrested for the murder of a farmer and trying to make it look like a hit-and-run accident, allegedly over a property dispute. The constable was posted at the Jala Nagar police station in Vijayapura.

Around 10.30 am on December 8, Vaddesab Galagali (55), who was riding a motorcycle, was killed after he was knocked down by an SUV driven by constable Mansoor Ali Walikar and his brother Mehboob Ali between Gothe and Gadyal villages in Jamakhandi taluk.

Police constable Mansoor Ali Walikar and his brother Mehboob Ali were arrested for the murder of Vaddesab Galagali.

Initially, it was suspected to be a hit-and-run case, but during, investigation, it was revealed that it was a deliberate act to murder Vaddesab.

The Shirol police, who investigated the case, said Mansoor Ali and Vaddesab Galagali had a dispute over a 3.5 acre plot in Shirol of Mudhol taluk, which led to the latter’s murder.
