Liquor worth Rs 5 lakh was seized from the house of the arrested accused.

BENGALURU: A man was arrested for stocking 151 litres of liquor illegally, worth Rs 5 lakh, at house in Kathriguppe. The Excise officials have arrested the accused Purushotham and seized the liquor.

Purushotham allegedly used to procure the liquor from Goa at cheaper prices. He was in touch with some liquor traders in that state. They would send the liquor bottles through courier by buses and he would receive the consignment in Bengaluru.

Purushotham would sell the liquor at lesser prices to his customers. On October 27, he was spotted in Banashankari Stage II with his parked two-wheeler. Excise officials found his movements to be suspicious and when they checked his bag, they found liquor bottles marked ‘For Sale in Goa Only’.

When they checked his mobile phone, it was revealed that he was in touch with liquor traders in Goa along with bills. Later, when they took him to his house, they found hundreds of bottles stacked in the attic. A case has been registered against Purushotham under various sections of the Excise Act.
