BENGALURU: A man was arrested after he stabbed and killed his estranged girlfriend outside her office on Tuesday night at NAL Road in Murugesh Palya.
The deceased has been identified as Leela Pavithra (26), a resident of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh and the accused is Dinakar Banala, a resident of Srikakulam. Leela and Dinakar had been in a relationship for the past five years and they studied together in Visakhapatnam. But Leela had started to avoid Dinakar after her parents did not consent to their marriage.
Last year, Leela moved to the city to work in a private healthcare company. On Tuesday evening, Dinakar went to her office and asked her to come out. They spoke for 10 minutes near the company gate and suddenly, he stabbed her 16 times, killing her instantly. Dinakar tried to kill himself by stabbing himself, but a biker, who witnessed it, hit the accused with his helmet and the knife fell from Dinakar’s hand. Later, he was handed over to the police by locals.
A case has been registered at the Jeevan Bima Nagar police station. The police visited the spot and the accused was arrested. During the investigation, it was found out that he had bought two knives and also attempted suicide after killing her. Further investigation is under way.
