Man stabbed to death for questioning duo over throwing beer bottles in front of school

The victim had questioned two men for throwing beer bottles near a school.

MANGALURU: A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death by two men for questioning them about dumping beer bottles in front of a school, at Kolya near Ullal on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Varun Gatti.

Varun and his friend Akshay were walking near St Joseph’s Joyland School when they spotted Suraj and Raviraj drinking beer and throwing the bottles in front of the school. Varun questioned the duo about this and an argument ensued. In the melee, Varun was stabbed in the back with a sharp knife.

A badly injured Varun walked to his house closeby and his family members immediately shifted him to a private hospital in Deralakatte. However, Varun did not survive.

Varun Gatti was working as the car driver for the MUDA commissioner and was living with his parents, brothers and sisters. The Ullal police have arrested Suraj and Raviraj. The latter is a former gram panchayat member. Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal visited the spot.
