KOLAR : A man killed his daughter by smothering her over her inter-caste relationship, while the distressed boyfriend committed suicide by placing his head under a running train in Kolar district.
The deceased are Keerthi (20) belonging to Golla community, and Gangadhar (24) of Scheduled Caste community of Bodagurki village in Kamasamudra hobli of Bangarapet taluk. Both were in love for the past one year.
Gangadhar told Keerthi’s father Krishnamurthy about their relationship and asked to marry her, but Keerthi’s family did not agree to it as they were of different castes. Keerthi’s parents repeatedly told Gangadhar to give up the relationship, but the duo did not heed them.
A heated argument ensued between Keerthi and her father Krishnamurthy on Tuesday morning about her relationship. Krishnamurthy (42) got angry and smothered his daughter to death. Following Keerthi’s death, Gangadhar committed suicide coming under the running the Lalbagh Express train in the same village.
A case has been registered against Krishnamurthy at the Kamasamudra police station in this regard.
