Man shoots son for refusing money to buy liquor, latter bleeds to death

BENGALURU: A man shot his 32-year-old son from his licenced single-barrel gun after the latter reportedly refused to give him money for liquor, at Karekal in Kamakshipalya on Thursday evening. The injured Nartan Bopanna was shifted to a hospital by the police, but he did not survive.

The father Suresh reportedly asked Nartan for money to buy liquor on Thursday evening and an argument ensued between the two. It is said that Suresh would often ask Nartan for money to buy liquor.

After the argument, an angry Suresh rushed into his room, picked up the gun and shot at the door, but the shrapnel hit Nartan in the leg. Nartan called his sister and informed them that their father had shot him. The sister immediately asked a relative to check on Nartan.

However, by then, Nartan had bled profusely for about three hours and despite shifting him to a hospital, he did not survive. Nartan’s mother is bedridden, family sources said. The Kamakshipalya police have since arrested Suresh.
