Man dies after cardiac arrest due to loud DJ during Ganesha immersion procession, case filed

KOPPAL: A man allegedly died following a cardiac arrest due to the loud DJ music during a Ganesha idol immersion procession in Gangavati city. The man, identified as Sudeep Sajjan (30), died while dancing in the procession. A case has been registered at the Town police station after the death of Sudeep.

The  Ganesha idol immersion took place in Gangavati Nagar of Koppal district on the September 2. A procession including DJ music was organised by the youths of Prashanth Nagar in Gangavati. During the early morning procession, the crowd danced to the DJ music.

A case has been registered against Parasurama Maddera, Basavaraj Thavaragera, Ravi Pavarashetti, DJ owner Santosh Mudhola, DJ operator Shivasagar of Ramadurga, Belagavi and DJ tractor owner Ashok in connection with the incident.

A total of Rs 24 lakh including the equipment and vehicle used for the DJ for music have been seized by the police. This includes a tractor worth Rs 10 lakh, a lorry worth Rs 3 lakh, a generator worth Rs 3 lakh, musical instrument worth Rs 9 lakh.

Local ASI Siddaramaiah has complained that DJ was used in the procession without permission. The police department held a meeting at the police station well in advance and instructed the oranisers not to have loud music. Despite this, DJ music was used without permission, which was disturbing the peace of the people and causing noise pollution, the complaint read.
