Man chased and hacked to death over alleged old rivalry

BENGALURU: A man was chased for about a kilometre by some miscreants, assaulted, and hacked to death in filmy style at Lakkasandra.

The deceased has been identified as Jayaprakash alias Appi. He was at a hotel in Lakkasandra when he was attacked my miscreants wielding sharp weapons, chased for about 1 km and hacked to death. Later, the miscreants fled from the scene.

Jayaprakash was participating in the Hanuman Jayanti Annadana programme at the Anjaneya temple near Lakkasandra bus stand. At this time, four or five people suddenly started attacking him with weapons. Hee ran to escape and went inside the hotel, but the attackers managed to kill him.

Following the murder, tension prevailed in and around Lakkasandra and an additional KSRP contingent has been deployed along with the local police security. Also, the police had to make much effort to disperse the people.

Jayaprakash was in jail in 2009 in a murder case. Police suspect that he was killed over an old rivalry.

South East Division DCP CK Baba said the FSL team, dog squad and Adugodi police have visited the spot and further investigation is under way.
