BENGALURU: Teams of the Lokayukta police conducted simultaneous raids at several RTO checkposts across the state on Tuesday. The Lokayukta police seized excess cash and examined documents at the checkposts.
The raids were conducted following public complaints of corruption. RTO officials were accused of extorting money from transport vehicles.
The raids were conducted at the RTO checkpost near PD Halli in Ballari taluk and seized excess cash. In Bidar, raids were conducted at the checkpost on National Highway-9 on the outskirts of Humnabad. The Lokayukta police also raided the checkpost on NH-4 near Koganolli in Nippani taluk where there were complaints of fleecing truck drivers.
On the Bengaluru-Hyderabad national highway, the Lokayukta police raided the checkpost near the border in Bagepalli taluk. Searches were also conducted at the checkpost near Tadigola Cross in Srinivaspur taluk by the Kolar Lokayukta police while the Bengaluru Lokayukta police raided the checkpost at Nangali in Mulbagal taluk.
