Local and tourists clash at Krishna Math parking lot in Udupi

UDUPI: A local resident got into a brawl with a group of tourists from Andhra Pradesh in the Krishna Math’s parking area on Tuesday night after a dispute over giving way to a vehicle in the parking area. Later, locals defused the fight.

The local Supreeth, a resident of local Korangrapady, attempted to run his car over the tourists. He threatened them saying, “I’m a local and this is how I drive”. He also assaulted them with a Kambala stick which he had kept in the car, causing injuries. In retaliation, the tourists damaged the car’s glass.

One of the tourists, Pavan, from Hyderabad, filed a complaint against Supreeth.  The tourists from Andhra Pradesh had come for darshan with women and children. Supreeth filed a counter-complaint stating that the fight occurred because he was asked to drive slowly. He complained that the tourists picked a fight while he was coming in the car with his wife. He Alleged that he was assaulted with a chair and a photo stand.

Supreeth said he suffered bleeding from the mouth due to the assault. The Udupi Town police have received complaints from both parties.
