BENGALURU: Terrorist T Nazir was attacked by some undertrials at the Parrappana Agrahara Central jail in Bengaluru while he was being taken out of a high security cell to attend a video conference. The jail inmates also thrashed T Nazir’s companions. They shouted slogans at T Nazir and insulted them, calling them traitors.

Sources said that history-sheeter Madhu and his men assaulted the Nazir over the issue of religious conversion. Nazir had put three of his men in Madhu’s cell which the latter questioned. They got into an argument which later escalated into an assault on Nazir.

Jail superintendent Surekha managed to rescue Nasir from the attack with the help of other jail staff and convicts before the situation went out of hand.

T Nazir is the prime accused in the 2008 serial bomb blast in Bengaluru case. He is also suspected to be involved with the five terror suspects who were arrested on Thursday and is said to have indoctrinated them.

Meanwhile, ADGP (Prisons) Malini Krishnamurthy has ordered an internal inquiry into how Nazir is managing to get out of his high security cell and indulge in religious conversion. The inquiry will also look into whether jail officials are involved, sources said.
