BENGALURU: With the tie-up now firmed up, former chief ministers H D Kumaraswamy of the JD(S) and B S Yediyurappa of the BJP are likely to meet this week to discuss plans for the Lok Sabha polls next year. It is being speculated that they may likely plan strategies to attack the ruling Congress government in the run-up to the General Election.
After the alliance between the BJP and JD(S) was formalised, the state leaders of both parties keen to have a meeting. After the JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy met the BJP high command including Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president J P Nadda, Yediyurappa will now hold the first meeting with Kumaraswamy. The leaders are expected to discuss about the next phase of joint operations and mutual coordination.
Kumaraswamy called up Yediyurappa recently following which the JD(S) leader invited the latter to his residence. Accepting the invitation, Yediyurappa will visit him at his JP Nagar residence.
Currently, both the parties have come together on the Cauvery water issue to take on the Congress government. Besides, there are many challenges to the alliance between the two parties. There is a need to discuss how to convince their party workers and how to calm down some leaders in both parties. Mainly, a joint strategy has to be worked out to stop the Congress’ ‘Operation Hastha’ plans.
The meeting between the two leaders is expected to touch upon protests against the government’s failures and collecting opinion about the administration.
