BELAGAVI: A NWKRTC staffer was killed in a horrific hit-and-run accident at Ukkad village in Belagavi taluk on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Yallappa Halappa Dodashenatti.
The NWKRTC staffer was run over by mini lorry on the national highway while he walking home after finishing work. The horrifying visuals were captured on a CCTV camera a and mobile phone.
Some locals chased and caught the lorry driver who fled after causing accident. He seemed to be drunk and was driving rashly which was captured on CCTV camera before accident. The mini lorry driver was identified as Mahendra Chaware who hails from Chhattisgarh and was arrested by the Kakati police who have registered a case.
Yallappa was working with NWKRTC service for two years and has a three-year-old and a two-month-old children. The transport corporation officials have condoled the death of their colleague.
