BENGALURU: With the introduction of a QR code-based Fast Track Queue system, patients visiting the K C General Hospital in the city no longer have to wait in queues to get their Out-Patient registration (OPD) card.

Earlier, patients had to wait in long queues to get OPD tokens, but now, they can register on the Eka Care app and scan the fast track QR code in the hospital where they can get a direct OPD token without having to stand in a queue. The number of patients getting OPD slips through the online service is slowly increasing at the hospital.

Dr Indira R Kabade, nodal medical officer of KC General Hospital.

“More than 1,000 patients visit our OPD every day for treatment. The Eka Care app can be installed on Android phones. Every day, our data entry operators educate people about the app. We have converted one counter to give information about the fast track QR code system. Patients can enter their information and it generates a code. The app saves time and the queue has lessened. More than 30 to 40 per cent of patients use the fast track code”, said  Dr Indira R Kabade, nodal medical officer at KC General Hospital.

Manju, who had come to consult a doctor at KC General Hospital.

“Earlier, we had to wait in long queues, but now after using the app, it has been very convenient to consult a doctor. It will be difficult for the older generation, but the younger generation can easily access it and consult the doctors”, said Manju, who had come to consult a doctor at KC General Hospital.
