BENGALURU: In a major shock for property owners in the city, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is gearing up for a survey of all properties in Bengaluru.
Trouble awaits those who have declared false information regarding property as preparations are being made to survey how much property is in one’s name, how much building has been constructed and to detect properties of Bengalureans.
The GBA is going ahead to conduct GPS tagging and survey of properties to prevent property tax evasion in the city limits and for digitisation of khata records. This massive operation will be conducted within the limits of five city corporations.
The survey is being started to detect mall owners, large commercial complexes and multi-storey building owners in Bengaluru who are evading tax by showing less area of their building. Accurate GPS location and photos of each property are being collected and integrated with government’s survey maps and e-khata system.
The goal is to detect lakhs of properties that are outside the GBA tax net and add them to records.
