BENGALURU: A single-judge bench of the Karnataka High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Karnataka Congress president D K Shivakumar questioning the government nod to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to prosecute him in an illegal assets case.

Shivakumar had moved the high court questioning the grant of sanction. Judge Natarajan dismissed the plea after hearing the arguments from both sides.

In 2019, the BJP government headed by B S Yediyurappa had granted sanction to the CBI to prosecute Shivakumar in an illegal assets case following which the central agency had filed an FIR against him. Shivakumar had contended that the government has no authority to grant sanction for prosecution.
