BENGALURU: A cow elephant at the Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) gave birth to a stillborn calf, but veterinary doctors have managed to save the elephant.

Suvarna had earlier given birth to nine calves, but the tenth was a stillborn. She elephants take a long time to deliver and Sarala was struggling since Wednesday to deliver.

On Thursday, a team of veterinarians examined the elephant and realised that the calf was stillborn. They immediately decided to operate on Suvarna to save her and removed the dead calf weighing about 150 kg.
