CHIKKODI: A Jain monk has suddenly gone missing from the Jain basadi at Hirekodi village, causing anxiety among disciples. The monk has been missing since Thursday morning.

Acharya Sri 108 Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj retired for the day into his quarters at Nandi Parvat Jain basadi around 10 pm on Wednesday. However, when his disciples arrived around 8 am on Thursday, he was nowhere to be seen.

What has caused anxiety among the disciplies is that his ‘kamandal’, ‘pinchi’ and his mobile phone were in his quarters itself. Jain monks carry their ‘pinchi’ and ‘kamandal’ wherever they go. Some documents related to the basadi are also said to be missing.

Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj had been living at the basadi for the last 15 years. The disciples looked for the monk all around the entire day on Thursday, but did not find him. On Friday, the president of the Acharya Kamakumara Nandi charitable trust, Bheemappa Ugare lodged a complaint with the Chikkodi police who are investigating.
