BENGALURU: The Income Tax Department on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at about 25 locations in the city, including businessmen and owners of medical facilities.
Those on the I-T Department radar include gold merchants and owners of medical stores and hospitals. Several teams of 5-6 officials each are conducting the searches.
Among the locations being searched are Gajaraj Jewellers near Cauvery Theatre, the flat belonging to the owner of Ganesh Jewellers at Bhoomika Apartments in Sadashivnagar, the house of businessman Naveen in Shantinagar. Naveen runs some educational institutions, a poultry farm and some other businesses.
The I-T officials also searched the residence of Dr Sandhya Patil, a dentist, at Prashanth Nagar. Dr Sandhya runs a clinic in Vijayanagar. The offices of Purvankara Infra and Purvankara Group were also searched and properties worth hundreds of crores were traced.
