BENGALURU: A thief broke into a house located on kalyana mantap premises in broad daylight in Banaswadi area. The thief broke in when the family members were away. The theft was, however, captured on a CCTV camera.
Footage from CCT revealed that the thief entered the house by breaking the door. The thief stolen cash and gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 3.5 lakh (Rs 1 lakh in cash and Rs 2.5 lakhs worth of gold jewellery).
The victim, Sheetal Thapa, who was in charge of the kalyana mantap and resided in Sri Ramachandra Complex, reported the theft to the Banaswadi police station. Thapa’s family, including his mother, wife were away while his daughter had gone to tution at the time of the incident, which made it easier for the thief to commit the crime.
The thief allegedly arrived on a two-wheeler and stole the valuables from the lockers in the house. The police are investigating the incident and reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the culprit.
