BELAGAVI: Fed up of his drunkard son, a man paid his worker to get the latter killed, at Kutaranahatti village in Bailhongal taluk. The police have since arrested two of the killers.

Marutheppa Tigadi was upset with his son Sangamesh Tigadi’s (39) wayward behaviour and paid his worker Manjunath to bump off Sangamesh. Manjunath, along with his associate Adiveppa Bolettin, got Sangamesh fully drunk and then killed him. They later dumped the body at a drop next to the road.

The arrested duo.

The murder came to light when the body was found the next day. A piece of paper in a lime container found on Sangamesh, which had the phone number of one of the accused, led the police to the killers.

The Murgod police have registered a case and taken up further investigation. Meanwhile, the father Marutheppa Tigadi was admitted to a hospital with complaints of high blood pressure and low sugar.

The victim’s brother Mahesh suspected a financial dispute behind the murder.

Meanwhile, Sangamesh’s brother Mahesh Tigadi, who lives separately, said they knew Manjunath only for the last 5-6 months and expressed apprehension that his brother may have been murdered over a financial dispute. Sangamesh was married and had two daughters, but the wife and daughters are at her parental home due to his drunk behaviour, he said.

He said Sangamesh’s head was smashed with stone and there were blood stains where the body had been disposed of. He also denied that his father may have had a role in the murder of his brother.
