UDUPI: Pejawar Mutt Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swami on Monday said that some group are committing acts of terror in the garb of Hindus and cautioned the people of coastal Karnataka to be more careful. He was referring to the accused in the cooker blast of Mangaluru, Mohammed Shariq, being spotted on car street near the Sri Krishna Temple in Udupi, believed to have been conducting a recce.
Noting that terror activities in coastal Karnataka came to light after the cooker bomb blast in Mangaluru, the Pejawar seer said, “The people of coastal areas should be careful. If you see any suspect activities in the region, it must be reported to the authorities. After Uthana Dvadashi, there will be more religious programmes. Already, events such as Yakshagana, Kola, Deepotsava, Nagamanadala and others are going on. There will large crowds at such events and if any untoward incident occurs, it will be a huge loss for our society”.
“Everyone should be aware and all should make efforts so that such terror acts are not repeated. We were seeing that some groups are using Hindu symbols for committing such crimes”, he noted. Further, he urged the public, “If you have lost your mobile phones or important documents, inform the department concerned. If you have not done so, you too may come under the scanner”, he warned.
