BALLARI: The hijab row has raised its head again in the district with some degree college students demanding that they be allowed to wear the garment, even as exams started today.

Some Muslim students of Sarala Devi College got into an argument with the principal Hemanna on Sunday, demanding that they be allowed to write the exams wearing the hijab.

The principal informed the Gandhi Nagar police who have deployed personnel at the college today. The students appeared for the exam after taking off the hijab. A separate room was provided for them for the purpose.

Another paper will be conducted at 2 pm and the college authorities have insisted that no one will be allowed to wear the hijab and write the exam. The college is an autonomous institution.
