BELAGAVI: A physical education teacher at a government school in Savadatti was thrashed by the family of a girl and other villagers after he posted indecent pictures of himself with the girl as his WhatsApp status.
The incident occurred three days ago and a video of the instructor being thrashed has since gone viral.
The PE instructor allegedly had been sexually assaulting the girl from the time she was in Class 8 till she completed Class 10. He had even taken pictures of them in compromising positions in the PE room.
After the girl joined a college, her marriage was fixed elsewhere. In his bid to stop the marriage, the PE teacher started posting indecent pictures on his WhatsApp status.
After the girl’s family came to know about the pictures going viral, they and some other villagers went to the school and thrashed the PE teacher with footwear and ransacked the PE room.
The Savadatti police have now registered a case under the POCSO Act against the PE teacher.
