Govt school headmaster suspended for throwing acidic powder on Class 2 girl student

The school headmaster Rangaswamy has been placed under suspension.

CHITRADURGA: The headmaster of the government higher primary school at Jodichikkenahalli in the taluk has been suspended for allegedly throwing some acidic powder on an eight-year-old schoolgirl two days ago.

On October 25, schoolchildren were reportedly tasked with cleaning the toilet when the headmaster Rangaswamy threw some powder on Class 2 student Sinchana’s back, causing burn injuries, according to the parents. The girl is undergoing treatment at the district government hospital.

The headmaster claimed, “The girl was playing at a distance, but she suddenly came running to see what was in the bucket when some powder fell on her back. This is the first time such a thing has happened in my professional life and I will ensure it does not recur”.

Following the incident, a case was registered against headmaster Rangaswamy at the Chitradurga Rural police station. Now, Deputy Director of Public Instruction Ravishankar has issued orders suspending Rangaswamy on charges of negligence and dereliction of duty.
