Govt forms three-member committee to investigate contamination of drinking water in state

BENGALURU: Following a few instances of deaths due to consuming contaminated water in several areas in the state, the government issued an order on forming a three-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a report.

The committee will investigate the cases of vomiting and diarrhoea in Basarihal of Koppal, Bijakal village of Kushtagi, and the death of a child in Rekalamadi of Devadurga due to contaminated water.

The committee will include Priyanka Mary Francis, Commissioner, Panchayat Raj; Chandrahas, Superintendent Engineer, and B R Venkatesh, Chief Technical Adviser, Department of Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department.

The order directed them to submit a report to the government by June 20, 2023.
