BENGALURU: The state government has banned the use of mobile phones in all temples coming under the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department. An order to this effect was issued today.

The government said the usse of mobile phones in temples disturbs other devotees and staff and said all devotees will have to switch off their mobile phones while inside the temples. The ban on use of mobile phones in temples follows a similar regulation in Tamil Nadu temples.

The issue was discussed earlier too, but has now been formally banned. Devotees and staff will not be allowed to carry phones inside temples or will have to switch off the devices.
