Gold chain worth Rs 4 lakh snatched from retired ASI’s wife in Hiriyur

The woman was taking a walk near her house when the chain snatchers struck.

CHITRADURGA: Chain snatchers made away with a 50 gm gold chain from a woman while she was on a walk in front of her house at Lakshmamma Layout in Hiriyur town on Tuesday evening.

Vinoda (60), wife of retired assistant sub-inspector of police Thippeswamy, was taking a walk near her house around 8.30 pm when two men on a motorcycle approached her from the front, snatched her chain and sped away.

The chain snatchers spotted on CCTV camera entering and exiting the street.

The victim said her mangalasutra weighed 50 grams, costing about Rs 4 lakh. The chainsnatching and the escape by the motorcycle-borne duo was captured on CCTV cameras. The Hiriyur police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
