CHIKKAMAGALUR: Allegations of conversion have started doing the rounds after a building, which looks like a church, came up on a site allotted for a house under the Ashraya scheme at a village in the district.

According to villagers, a church-like structure has come up on a site allotted under the Ashraya scheme at Lokavalli in Mudigere taluk.

Officials having a word with the villagers.

The structure is being built illegally by a person who is not a resident of the village and where there are no Christians, they said. The site was allotted for the construction of a house, they pointed out.

The villagers and Hindu groups have now demanded that further construction work on the structure should be stopped. They have also lodged a complaint with the Mudigere police.
