DAVANAGERE: A teacher lost Rs 8.11 lakh to cyber fraudsters who lured her with the offer of money to rate products, places and restaurants on Google. The victim has since lodged a complaint with the Cybercrime, Economic offences and Narcotics (CEN) police station.

The teacher, a resident of Nijalingappa Layout, received a message on her phone offering money to give ratings on Google. The cyber criminals also informed that she would get higher returns on investments made with them.

The woman first invested Rs 5,000 for which she got Rs 10,000. She then invested Rs 23,000 for which she got Rs 33,000. Later, the cyber fraudsters too Rs 8.11 lakh from her in stages in different bank accounts which were in different names.

Later, when she tried to withdraw the money, she couldn’t. The fraudsters then told her that if she invested some more money, she could withdraw the full amount. She then realised that she had been defrauded and approached the police.
