BENGALURU: After the condition of a huge crater on Kanteerava Studio was broadcast by Public TV and the resultant patch work done by the corporation officials, Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M Maheshwara Rao has sought report from West City Corporation Commissioner and promised action against those responsible. He also assured to take up repair work five days.

The chief commissioner said, “Disciplinary action will be taken against whoever the culprits are. There has been rain for five days, and as soon as rain stops, we will start work. We have decided that Kanteerava Studio Junction road should be developed. I have seen your video and told our commissioner to give report. Now we have restored the collapsed part of the road. The GBA and Water Board are preparing protocol for road construction”, he told Public TV.

Bengaluru West Corporation Commissioner Rajendra on Wednesday visited spot shown by Public TV and instructed officials to take up repair work in three days. “An 800-metre stretch of the road is completely spoiled by KPTCL and BSMILE. I have instructed to take a decision regarding road in three days. If they don’t take action, I will recommend white topping of the road. Work on repairing the road will be taken up as soon as possible”, he said.

After Public TV broadcast its report on the condition of the road, GBA engineers officials visited the spot on Tuesday night and poured mud and construction debris to fill the crater. The Kanteerava Studio Junction-Jalahalli Cross stretch has not seen asphalt for many years and all along the road has become full of potholes with vehicle users.

People expressed outrage over mud and debris being poured to fill the crater. “We have been suffering this misery for two-three years. The MLA, MP don’t come and travel here, common people travel here. Would anyone pour mud there? If it rains, won’t it collapse further? Does the corporation not have funds to lay asphalt”, they questioned.

The Public TV report on the condition of the road was trending on its X account on Wednesday with netizens taking the government to task in the comments section. “Is this the tunnel road project, has tunnel road project started?”, one user remarked. Others took Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to task. Opposition parties also have shared the video.
