Gang targets unemployed youths with job offers at MNCs, one arrested

BENGALURU: A gang that was targeting students coming to Bengaluru from other states by luring them with job offers at MNCs and cheating them of lakhs of rupees has come to light. The Whitefield police have arrested one of the accused, Pavan Gopal.

The gang would contact students and tempt them with salaries in lakhs at MNC companies. In the name of preparation for it, they would collect money from each person and would even make them write an exam to gain their trust. Later, it has come to light that they would cheat them by saying the candidate has failed the exam.

It has been found that they took money in this manner from around 40 people, and the investigation is ongoing in that regard. The accused were cheating unemployed young men and women who were struggling due to lack of jobs.

They told youths that the job was at an MNC company in Andhra Pradesh. To make the youths believe, they would say that once the aspirant get the job, they will get a hike every year. “If you get selected here, your life will be settled,” the accused would say.

The accused had even set up an office in Whitefield and fixed the exam fee at Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000. and call 30 to 40 people at a time and conduct the exam. Since it wasn’t a large amount of money, no one bothered much about it. The accused have been doing this act for a full three years.
