HAVERI: Four schoolchildren sustained serious injuries while 45 others escaped after a KKRTC bus in which they were heading for a school trip overturned near Allipuru village in Savanur taluk on Monday evening.
While the seriously injured children were shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi, 12 other children were treated at the taluk hospitali in Savanur where they were treated for minor injuries.
On Monday morning, 53 children and six teachers of the government higher primary school at Sajjalagudda in Lingsugur taluk of Raichur set out on a school trip and were on their way to the Rock Garden at Shiggaon. The bus in which they were travelling, overturned when a car cut its path and the driver attempted to avoid crashing into it.
On receiving information, the Savanur tahsildar and subdivisional magistrate and the police visited the spot. A case has been registered at the Savanur police station.
