Four of family found dead in rented house in Mysuru, police suspect suicide pact

MYSURU: Four members of a family were found dead in their rented house at Chamundipuram in the city. The police suspect that they committed suicide as one was found hanging while the others were found lying on the floor.

The deceased include a couple and their two children. They were identified as Mahadevaswamy (48), wife Anita (35), children Chandrakala (17) and Dhanalakshmi (15). The four decomposed bodies were found in the house under suspicious circumstances.

Mahadevaswamy and family had taken the house in Chamundipuram on rent just two months ago and neighbours did not know much about them. Mahadevaswamy hails from Bardanpura village in Mysuru taluk and was a vegetable merchant in Bandipalaya, Mysuru and had his own shop. He had come to Chamundipuram in Mysuru two months ago.

The body of the older daughter Chandrakala was found hanging while the remaining bodies were on the floor. All of them are suspected to have died two days ago. On Sunday, the neighbours got suspicious as foul smell was coming from the house and reported the matter to the police.

The Krishnaraja police have registered a case and are investigating. The exact cause of death of the family is not known. More details are expected after the police investigation.
