VIJAYAPURA: A Food and Civil Supplies Department official was thrashed for conducting a raid on illegal refilling of domestic LPG for autorickshaws. A group attacked him at his residence at Rahim Nagar here.
Food inspector Nayeem Attar had conducted a raid on an illegal unit near the satellite bus stand where domestic LPG cylinders were being illegally used to refill autorickshaw LPG tanks. The unit belongs to one Shabbir Jamakhandi. The LPG cylinders had also been seized.
Angered by the action, Shabbir Jamakhandi, Sonu Nadaf and their associates barged into Nayeem’s house and assaulted him brutally. A seriously injured Nayeed has been admitted to the ditrict hospital whereas the attackers have fled.
The Gandhi Chowk police have registered a case against Shabbir, Sonu and others and are on their lookout for them.
