BENGALURU: Five buses were involved in a serial accident near Tonachinaguppe in Nelamangala taluk on Tumakuru national highway early today morning. The pileup is believed to have occurred due to thick fog in the morning hours.
Many of the passengers who were injured were rushed to hospitals by locals and the Nelamangala traffic police. Rescuers had a hard time trying to extricate those stuck between the buses. At least 25 people were admitted to the government hospital in Nelamangala for treatment.
As a result of the pileup, a traffic jam was witnessed on the highway for some time. The Nelamangala traffic police removed the buses involved in the serial accident using cranes to allow for traffic flow.
