BENGALURU: The countdown for the Aero India 2025 air show has begun.The five-day event begins on February 10 at the Air Force Station at Yelahanka.
As part of the security measures, the state Fisheries Department has banned fishing activities in 21 lakes in the Bengaluru North and East taluks, including Yelahanka and its surrounding areas, from January 23 to February 17.
The ban is in place as fishing activity in lakes can attract more birds, which can pose a risk to aircraft taking off and landing during the air show.
The fisheries department has instructed all contractors and leaseholders to suspend fishing activity and fish sales in all lakes and water bodies around Yelahanka, including Devanahalli.
The department has identified several lakes, including Hebbal Lake, Jakkur Lake, Kodigehalli Lake and others, where fishing activities have been banned temporarily.
According to Dinesh Kumar, director of the Fisheries department, The ban is in place to ensure safety of aircraft during the Aero India show. “Fishing is banned in 21 lakes in Bengaluru North and East taluks and 11 taluks in Devanahalli. We issued an order to all contractors and e-tender owners, and they are following it”, he said.
