Fire at garment unit in Hebbagodi destroys goods worth lakhs, spreads to adjacent factories

BENGALURU: A massive fire broke out in a garment factory godown at Hebbagodi in Anekal taluk on Thursday night and spread to four adjacent factories, causing extensive damage. The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short circuit.

The factories, which stored large quantities of garments, leather and chemicals, were completely gutted in the fire. Several chemical drums inside the factory also exploded, causing a massive blaze.

Firefighters struggled to extinguish the fire, but luckily, no casualties have been reported so far. However, the fire has caused significant damage, estimated to be worth crores of rupees.

A nearby hotel, Sai Vishram, was also affected by the fire, with some guests and patients from a hospital being shifted to other locations. The situation is currently under control and an investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
