BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has extended by a day the time for submission of objections to the ward reservation announced for the civic body polls.
With the offices of the Urban Development Department closed on Tuesday on account of Muharram, arrangements have been made to receive the objections at the Additional Chief Secretary at Vikasa Soudha.
Meanwhile, a preparatory meeting was held at the BBMP head office on Monday, ahead of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Independence Day celebrations, wherein the city police commissioner, the BBMP chief and senior traffic police officers and other officials participated. This was the third such meeting.
The BBMP has constituted three sub-committees to oversee preparations for the 75th Independence Day celebration — one headed by the police commissioner, one by the Bengaluru Urban district deputy commissioner and the third by the commissioner of the Department of Public Instruction.
While the police will look after security, traffic, Independence Day parade and other aspects, the BBMP will make preparations at the Manekshaw Parade Grounds.
From August 13 to 15, several programmes are lined up under Har Ghar Tiranga. The Amrit Mahotsav will be celebrated in every Assembly constituency and the civic body has procured 10 lakh flags. From August 10, flags will be distributed to all those who have not got it.
