HASSAN: An entire family escaped unharmed, thanks to a car owner’s presence of mind, after a lone wild elephant attacked the vehicle past midnight at Dolanamane village in Belur taluk.

Mohammed Jahid, who had attended an event in Bengaluru, was about to park his car inside the compound of his house with his family still inside when a lone wild elephant suddenly charged from behind the car. As the elephant attacked, Mohammed Jahid’s mother, sister, and her children started screaming.

Even then, the wild elephant did not move from the spot and stood near the car for some time. Immediately, Mohammed Jahid turned on the parking lights. Seeing the light, the wild elephant moved a short distance away and stopped.

After that, Mohammed Jahid informed the elephant task force. Within a few minutes, the staff arrived at the spot, burst crackers, and drove the wild elephant back into the forest.

Due to the elephant attack, the rear of the Hyundai Creta car (KA-46-N-1366) was completely damaged. Mohammed Jahid’s family members are terrified because of the wild elephant attack.
