BENGALURU: In some cheer for Metro passengers, a proposal has been submitted for extension of existing metro routes and a feasibility report for route extension is already being prepared. As per the proposal, all six metro routes will be extended to connect to major industrial zones of the city and to develop economically.
Proposed extension of 6 routes extension
- Challaghatta to Bidadi: Estimated 15 km, feasibility report stage.
- Silk Institute to Harohalli: Estimated 24 km, feasibility report stage.
- Bommasandra to Attibele: Estimated 11 km, feasibility report stage.
- Kalena Agrahara to Kadugodi Tree Park: Estimated ∼68 km, in feasibility report stage. This is longest route.
- Madavara to Tumakuru: Estimated 60 km, in DPR stage.
- K.R Puram to Hoskote (via Budigere Cross): Estimated 16 km, in feasibility report stage.

Meanwhile, irked over the delay in the inauguration of the Pink Line metro, local residents staged a unique protest by inaugurating it themselves by cutting a tape at Tavarekere metro station on Monday.
BMRCL is waiting for Central Railway Safety Authority test for inauguration of the route. The pink line was was supposed to open at beginning of this year itself, but was postponed due to various reasons. The BMRCL is making preparations for opening of the pink line this October.
