MANGALURU, SHIVAMOGGA: Excise officials have busted an interstate racket involved in the illegal sale of liquor an seized 2,240 litres of alcohol in cans and 222 litres of fake brandy in sachets along with machinery.

The raid was conducted on a house at Santya in Kinya gram panchayat of Talapady on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Tuesday night.

Sachets of fake brandy were also found during the raid.

The village is close to the Kerala border and the illegal liquor was being sold in that state. The raid was carried out by a team of Excise officials from the Mangaluru South zone-2.

In another case, Excise officials four people who were transporting ganja and also consuming it, near the Anupinakatte bypass road in Shivamogga.

The arrested are Ranjith, Karthik, Chetan and Anil. Dried ganja and a motorcycle, all worth Rs 1.3 lakh, were recovered from them and a case registered under the NDPS Act.
