BENGALURU: The State Election Commission, which is making preparations for next year’s Lok Sabha election, has published the draft voter list on its website on Friday.
Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena objections can be filed till December 9 and all voters can revise their information where necessary. In case the information is wrong, voters can file an application on Form 6.
The CEO said a special drive will be carried out to include the names of voters who have been left out. “I request voters to check the draft electoral roll and make appropriate changes wherever necessary. As per the 2023 final voter list, there are a total of 5,08,53,845 voters in the state of which 2,56,39,736 are male, 2,52,09,619 female and 4,490 Other voters”.
The BBMP has also completed revision of the voter list of the 28 Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru. Accordingly, there are a total of 97,90,499 voters of whom 50,61,883 are male, 47,26,856 female and 1760 Other voters.
Palike Special Commissioner (election) Ramachandra said voters can also call the voter helpline to confirm if their name is included in the electoral roll. “Five lakh new voters have been included since January in Bengaluru, taking the total to 97 lakh while 86,062 names have been deleted. In every constituency, 10-15 per cent of voter names have been deleted. Objections can be filed till December 9”, he said.
On the fake voter IDs found in Hebbal constituency, he said a complaint has been lodged with the Central Crime Branch and added that details will be shared after completion of the investigation.
