BENGALURU: Eight people died and two were seriously injured in separate accidents across the state in the last 24 hours.

A woman died and her son was seriously injured after a KSRTC bus rammed their motorcycle from behind near Kachahalli in Chintamani taluk of Chikkaballapur district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Nethravathi while her injured son is Raju. The bus was plying between Chintamani and Kolar when the accident occurred. The Chintamani Rural police have seized the bus and registered a case.

Two people died on the spot on the national highway near Begur in Kunigal taluk of Tumakuru district after a car collided with a good vehicle. The deceased are Anne Gowda (38) and Niranjan (37) from Channarayapatna. The Kunigal police have arrested the driver of the goods vehicle.

Lavanya, a student of a women’s college in Kolar, was getting into the bus when the driver moved the vehicle. She fell down and the rear wheel went over her leg. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kolar for treatment.

Locals vented their anger at KSRTC and cornered the bus driver and conductor, leading to a tense atmosphere for some time.

Elsewhere, a man and a woman, who were waiting for a bus, were run over by a speeding truck near Gandhinagar Cross in Ujire, Belthangady taluk, in Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday. The speeding truck crushed the two people, hit some electricity poles and brought down a wall before coming to a halt.

The tractor mowed down three women labourers.

Three women labourers who were returning home with headloads of cattle fodder were run over by a tractor near Shedbal village in Kagwad taluk of Belagavi district on Sunday. The tractor toppled over after the driver lost control, crushing the women.
