BENGALURU: Byatarayanapura Congress MLA Krishna Byregowda got into an ugly spat with some locals at Bharat Nagar in Thanisandra Ward No. 4 on Monday when they tried to put forth some grievances. The MLA shouted at them questioning, “Have you come here to do politics? Who are you to talk and why do you talk on the road? Come to my office”.

There was some jostling around between locals and the MLA’s supporters.

Some of the MLA’s supporters allegedly even tried to bash up the locals who wanted to raise civic issues like repair of drains and supply of water. They even raised slogans against the SDPI. The incident occurred when Krishna Byregowda had gone there to inaugurate road works on balloon factory road in Thanisandra.

Locals alleged that the MLA’s supporters Mohan and Jamshed take money from people in the name of providing water connections and if it is not given, they indulge in rowdyism. “Don’t we even have the right to raise questions? The MLA’s supporters deliberately tried to paint us as SDPI activists to make us look bad. They even shouted at the women”, they charged.

“When they seek votes, they come to our doorstep, but why can’t they listen to our grivevances at our doorstep and insist that we should go their office with a complaint? We have lodged complaints too thrice earlier, but the result has been zero. The MLA’s people don’t even let us meet him”, said a woman resident. Another resident claimed that he was pushed and showed by the lawmakers’ supporters and not allowed to speak.
