KARWAR: A doctor and a trainee doctor were assaulted by a couple and their family after the death of their newborn baby at the Shirali Government Hospital in Bhatkal taluk. Both sides have lodged complaints with the police.
The second child of Satish Rama Naik and Hema Naik of Shirali was born on October 27. The child was reportedly suffering from jaundice problem was being given treatment in hospital. Later, while the mother was breastfeeding the child, it is said to have turned blue and experienced breathing difficulty.
Immediately, Dr Leeladhar Mogera and trainee doctors provided treatment, but the child did not survive. Due to this, family members and relatives assaulted the doctor and trainee doctor alleging doctors’ negligence is reason for child’s death.
The doctors have filed case at Bhatkal Rural police station, and the family members have also filed a counter-complaint against the doctors.
