Day after Kalaburagi advocate’s murder over allaged land dispute, attackers still at large

KALABURAGI: An advocate was brutally murdered by some miscreants at Sri Ganga Vihar apartment on Thursday morning over an alleged land dispute. The advocate was on his way to his office in the basement of the apartment when he was chased and attacked. The incident occurred in the University police station limits in Kalaburagi city and the attackers are still at large.

The deceased has been identified as Veerannagouda. He was attacked by armed assassins and his head bludgeoned with a huge stone over a land issue. The police have recovered the CCTV footage of the apartment. A case has been registered in this regard at the Kalaburagi University police station.

“Veeranna Gowda was about to go to his office on Thursday when , some miscreants attacked him. He was murdered in the basement of the apartment. In this regard, we have registered an FIR”, said Kalaburagi City Police Commissioner R Chethan.

The commissioner said that the police have formed two teams to nab the accused. He said that the reason for the advocate’s murder has yet to be ascertained. “We have yet to ascertain the reason behind his murder. We are collecting the information from the victim’s family and friends”, Chethan said.

Meanwhile, Kalaburagi lawyers staged a protest at SVP Chowk in the city demanding swift action against the culprits. An FIR has been registered against six people, including Neelkantha Police Patil, Vijayakumar, Siddanna Gowda, Sidarama, Avvanna and Guru.
