BENGALURU: Actor Darshan, who is lodged in the Parappana Agrahara central jail in the Renukaswamy murder case, was on Tuesday allowed to meet his wife Vijayalakshmi and son 2.30 pm to 3 pm 23rd wedding anniversary.
Jail officials gave permission for Darshan to meet his wife and son as he was given because he was mentally distressed. Officials agreed to the request made by Darshan after he wrote a letter to Jail SP Anshukumar on May 15.
After Anshukumar’s letter, DGP (Prisons) Alok Kumar and Vijayalakshmi met him. Following the meeting, permission was granted as per the jail manual.
As per the jail manual, such permission is granted in cases of severe illness or mental depression. However, Darshan does not have any health issues. However, the meeting was allowed because he is feeling low. The in-person interview was held under CCTV surveillance and permission was granted for five people, including wife Vijayalakshmi, son Vineesh, his mother and brother, to meet him.
The meeting took place in the presence of two jail warders in a 10×10 room in the women’s wing and CCTV footage and audio of the interview was recorded and was monitored from the central office. Provision was made for DGP Alok Kumar to view it from his chamber itself.
Vijayalakshmi and Vineesh arrived near the jail in a Range Rover. Along with Vijayalakshmi and Vineesh, a woman also entered the jail. Manager Nagaraj carried only fruits for actor Darshan. Darshan got emotional after hugging his wife and son.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Assistant Superintendent Karna. Later, Vijayalakshmi and Vineesh returned after meeting Darshan and got emotional after meeting Darshan.
Meanwhile, in a social media post, Vijayalakshmi wrote, “I will hold your hand through every storm and every silence. Even when situationss try to pull us apart, my heart will always choose you… And even if the whole world stands against you, I will stand by be side you, choosing you through it alll”.
She also shared a photo holding Darshan’s hand. “Even if the world turns against you, I will be with you. Whether in silence or a cyclone, I will hold your hand”, the emotional post by Vijayalakshmi said.
