Deputy commissioners have been empowered to declare holiday for schools and colleges based on the situation.

BENGALURU: In view of the incessant rain in many parts of the state, the government has directed district deputy commissioners to declare holiday for schools and colleges depending on the situation.

The decision has been taken keeping the health of children in mind. The schools and colleges can make up for the classes on Saturday by remaining open for the full day, according to a notification.

Bengaluru has been witnessing foggy weather with incessant rain over the last few days.

Also, lessons will be broadcast on Akashvani’s Vividh Bharati channel from December 12 to February 23 next year every day from Classes 1 to 9.

The goverment has also directed the authorities concerned to ensure effective implementation of the midday meal and Ksheera Bhagya schemes. It also said that 10 of the 25 recommendations of the Karnataka Evaluation Authority, which were made after conducting a social study, should be implemented full in government and aided educational institutions.
