Congress taunts BJP leaders on Valentine’s Day with Twitter posts

BENGALURU: Political jousting is not new on Twitter. On Valentine’s Day, the state Congress unit took it to a different level by posting eleven cartoons of BJP leaders and taunting them with hashtag #40PercentLove accompanied with captions with every post on Tuesday.

In recent days, BJP as well as Congress and JD(S) leaders have been in the spotlight over several issues. But the posts put out by Congress has piqued the interest of netizens. The posts relate to the PSI recruitment scam, potholes on highways, promise of cattle protection, dreaming for CM’s chair, and allegations of 40 per cent commission.

The Congress posts targeted Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, Revenue Minister R Ashoks, Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Bamala Chavan, Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South constituency Tejasvi Surya, MLA and BJP national general secretary C T Ravi, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Renukacharya, K S Eshwarappa and Basanagouda Patil Yatnal.

Taunting Home minister Araga Jnanendra for bad roads, showing a pothole in the shape of a heart, another post read, “The road to love is never smooth”

A post targeting Lok Sabha member Tejasvi Surya, while referring to the incident wherein an aircraft emergency door opened after he touched it, read, ‘Hate makes me to do Stupid things’.

The Congress also targeted BJP national general secretary C T Ravi and captioned a post saying, “I love to imagine and make it a reality”.

The Karnataka Congress also targeted BJP rebel MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal and said, ‘Love is in the CD, which one shall I play tonight?’

Another post on Revenue Minister R Ashoka being unwelcome in Mandya read, ‘Love is not for all’ with broken heart symbol.

The Congress also taunted another MLA Renukacharya on not getting a ministerial berth and captioned it, ‘Love me or hate me, Kiss me or kill me.’

The Congress trained its guns on Higher Education Minister C N Ashwath Narayan over the police sub-inspector recruitment scam and captioned it ‘PSI scams love’.

The Opposition party also took on BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, who is known for his controversial statements and Hindutva brand on politics. The caption for the Twitter post read, ‘Hate is my date’ and also mentioned ‘Pumpwell’ on his banian’

Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Bamala Chavan was also in the line of fine with a caption which read, ‘I Love You, You Must Love Me’. The post also taunted the BJP over the love for cows.

Targeting K S Eshwarappa, who had to step down as minister after a contractor committed suicide, a post read ‘Farewell my love, forever I will cherish the memories with you’.
